WJMS' Westhafer Awarded Maitland P. Simmons Memorial Award

West Jackson Middle School science teacher Chloe Westhafer has been awarded the Maitland P. Simmons Memorial Award for New Teachers by the National Science Teaching Association. The award provides select K-12 teachers within their first five years of teaching with funds to attend the National Conference on Science Education. The award comes with a $1,000 prize to be used to attend the national conference, where recipients are invited to attend a variety of workshops and presentations.

Westhafer is in her second year as a sixth-grade science teacher at West Jackson Middle School. She has already earned multiple grants and awards in her time as an educator. Westhafer's mom, Dr. Stephanie Westhafer, is a first grade teacher at West Jackson Elementary School.
